Marit Nybakk was the 31st President
of the Norwegian Association for Women’s Rights from 2016 to 2018. A member of the Labour Party, she served as a Member of Parliament for Oslo from 1986 to 2017 and was the parliament’s First Vice-President during the term 2013–2017. She is a former chair of the Standing Committee on Defence, vice chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, delegate to the United Nations General Assembly and leader of the Socialist Group in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. She was President of the Nordic Council in 2013.
